Aims and Values

We aim to provide a safe and caring environment, where all children are given opportunities to succeed, take responsibility for their learning, and develop confidence in their own abilities. Our goal is to ensure that each child achieves their best and has a great start to their academic journey.

Our Aims

  • We will create a safe and exciting school where everyone learns.
  • We will promote equal opportunities for all members of our school family to achieve their best.
  • We will work together to foster respect and responsibility, building good relations with the wider community.
  • We will encourage all to be tolerant of other people and to become active and caring members of society.
  • We will celebrate individual/team efforts and achievements, both in and out of school.

Our values

Each half-term we promote one of our 6 Values. Our values are:

KINDNESS

TEAMWORK

RESPECT

CREATIVITY

PERSEVERANCE

RESPONSIBILITY

Children are encouraged to embody these values, and are rewarded for displaying these behaviours around school. Rewards include (but are not limited to): receiving pom-poms for their class jar; a nomination from the class teacher for 'Hot Chocolate Friday'; a Values certificate presented in assembly.

Everyone's Welcome

'Everyone's Welcome' is a Leicester/Leicestershire initiative which uses the 'No Outsiders' resources and framework to teach the Equality Act (2010) to primary school children.
'No Outsiders' is a whole school approach which uses assemblies and story books to teach children about all aspects of difference and diversity. These principles are promoted in the Equality Act (2010) and are in line with British Values.

British Values

Being part of Britain
As a school, we value and celebrate the diverse heritages of everybody at Langmoor.  We also value and learn about being part of Britain. This means that we observe traditions & customs during the course of the school year, such as Remembrance during the Autumn Term.

Democracy
At Langmoor, children, parents, and staff, have many opportunities for their voices to be heard, and democracy is central to how we operate. One way we do this is by operating a School Council, in which student representatives are elected to discuss issues raised by different classes. The council has its own budget, and is able to effect changes within the school.

Rules and Law
We observe and promote the importance of rules and laws, both in and outside the school. Pupils are taught the value and reasons behind British laws - that they govern and protect us, the responsibilities involved, and the consequences when laws are broken.
Children are also encouraged to set their own Class Rules at the start of each year. 'Class Rules' are a set of principles that are understood by all and necessary to ensure that every class member is able to learn in a safe and ordered environment.

Individual Liberty
Alongside rules and laws, we promote freedom of choice and the right to respectfully express views and beliefs. Through the provision of a safe, supportive environment and empowering education, we provide boundaries for our young pupils to make choices safely.

Mutual Respect and Tolerance
Langmoor Primary School is located in a culturally diverse area, and we are proud to promote and celebrate our different backgrounds and beliefs.
Mutual respect is at the heart of our aims and ethos - to develop an understanding and respect for a wide range of religious values, languages, and cultural traditions. One of our school rules is 'to show respect to everyone and everything'.

Extremism
Extremism is not part of any British or European value. The Prevent Duty is clear that extremism of all kinds should be tackled and challenged. Please see the Prevent Duty Guidance and its Guidance for Schools
